Resveratrol Anti-Aging: COLITIS, DIVERTIULI, CHRONS Testimony

February of 2008 I was diagnosed with Colitis and Diverticuli but tests also showed a possibility of Chrons.

I was on various medications throughout 2008 and 2009 with nothing really helping.

Then one day in late January of 2010 my Shaklee Distributor called and talked to me about Vivix and offered to send more information along with testimonials. After reading the material I ordered Vivix and after a month thought it wasn't going to help me but I remembered my Shaklee distributor saying to try it at least for two months.

I started taking Vivix in February and after two months I could see improvement and by three months I was symptom free and I still am.

Before taking Vivix I had diarrhea, bloody stools, and mucus discharge to the point I didn't leave the house but for a short time. I was basically living on toast and yogurt and drinking only water. I had no energy. Now I watch my diet but I can eat most things and I still drink mostly water but ocassionally have tea or a soda. I am now able to do my regular activities. ~Louise

Resveratrol, Grapes & Grape Juice Foods that fight Cancer

Both grapes and grape juice are rich sources of resveratrol, a type of natural phytochemical that belongs to a much larger group of phytochemicals calledpolyphenols.

The skin of the grape contains the most resveratrol, and red and purple grapes contain significantly more resveratrol than green grapes. Grape jam and raisins contain much smaller amounts of this phytochemical. Red wine also contains resveratrol. However, with AICR’s second expert report noting convincing evidence that alcohol is associated with increased risk for cancers of the mouth, pharynx and larynx, esophagus, breast (pre- and postmenopausal) and colon and rectum (in men), wine is not a recommended source of resveratrol.
Studies suggest that polyphenols in general and resveratrol, in particular, possess potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In laboratory studies, resveratrol prevented the kind of damage known to trigger the cancer process in cell, tissue and animal models.
Other laboratory research points to resveratrol’s ability to slow the growth of cancer cells and inhibit the formation of tumors in lymph, liver, stomach and breast cells. Resveratrol has also triggered the death of leukemic and colon cancer tumors.
In one series of studies, resveratrol blocked the development of skin, breast and leukemia cancers at all three stages of the disease (initiation, promotion and progression).

DR Maroon on Resveratrol and Anti-Aging

The book: The Longevity Factor How Resveratrol & Red Wine activate genes for a longer and healthier life by Joseph Maroon, M.D.

On Page 193 Dr Maroon writes this on Vivix: "There is growing evidence that a combination of resveratrol and other potent polyphenols might provide improved health benefits due to the synergistic properties of different polyphenols from different plant sources. Shaklee Corporation, a direct selling nutrition company has recently released a product called Vivix, which is described as a cellular anti-aging tonic. It contains a multi-source polyphenol blend.

In conversations with the company, they state that the blend includes 100 mg of 98 percent pure resveratrol from Polygonum cuspidatum long with a proprietary extract derived from the fresh pomace of muscadine grapes (Vitis rotundifolia) The company recommends 5ml per day of Vivix, which they state is equivalent to the abount of resveratrol found in 100 glasses of red pinot noir red wine.

The muscadine polyphenols in this blended product along with the added resveratrol, European elderberry extract, and purple carrot extract will increase the total overall polyphenol content of this product. A month's supply will cost a member $85.00. In Shaklee's accompanying literature for Vivix, they state that the Vivix ingredients were shown in a laboratory study to be 10 times more powerful in slowing a key mechanism of aging than resveratrol alone."

Also, on Page 70, the author expands on the value of the muscadine grapes and the advantages over European grapes. "Muscadine grapes are native to North America, and may be the only fruit that originated in the United States and nowhere else.

They grow almost exclusively in the southeastern United States. They thrive under adverse conditions, perhaps due to their thicker and tougher skins compared to European grapes....muscadines have an extra chromosome(twenty instead of the nineteen other grapes have).

These additional genes allow muscadine grapes to produce a unique phytochemical, ellagic acid. The ellagive acid polyphenol compounds that are in muscadine grapes are vitually absent in other grapes. Ellagic acid is used by the muscadine grape skin to make tannin called ellagotannins, whichis used as an antimicrobial by the plant.

Ellagic acid also has powerful antioxidant and anticancer properties....the polyphenols in muscadine grape skins have been shown to have positive effects in heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and other inflammatory conditions. One of the more interesting effects of muscadine products appears to be their inhibition of AGE protein formation."

Continuing, the author states:" Recently, a large nutrition, direct selling company, Shaklee Corporation, working with scientists from the University of Georgia, has created a product containing an extract made from muscadine pomace which is the remaining fruit solids after the water content is extracted. Specificaly, they are working with muscadine grape growers in order to secure grapes with large amounts of protective polyphenols including ellagic acid and resveratrol. By selecting muscadine grapes and by using a whole grape extraction process, they have reported that their extract has a significantly higher concentration of healthy polyphenols than found in the skins themselves."

The above are excerpts from the book "The Longevity Factor" The author Joseph Maroon, M.D. FA.C.S. studied medicine at Indiana University, and Oxford University. Dr Maroon is a world renowned neurosurgeon and former president of the Congress of Neurological surgeons, the larges society of its kind in North America. He is currently a professor and Heindl Scholor in Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Interesting to note: he is a lifelong athlete, competed in more than fifty triathlons, and three Hawaiian Ironman Championship competitions.

The book is heralded as a groundbreaking examination of new scientific research that holds the secret to weight loss, increased strength, endurance, memory, and a healthier, longer life.

I believe the author, Joseph Maroon, M.D. has no connection with Shaklee Corporation, and the references in the book to Shaklee Corporation and our product Vivix..serve as an excellent third party reference.

Hearing test and VIVIX testimonial

This just in from Shirley a Shaklee Distributor..

Today I went in for my yearly hearing aid check up at the audiologist. He said that it has been a number of years since I had a hearing test and this is especially important considering my age. After the tests were completed he compared the results today with the previous tests. He said he didn't understand why the results of today's testing were so out of line with my previous tests. Then he showed me the comparison. He said my tests today showed my hearing to be ABOVE the "normal" line whereas my previous tests showed all my scores to be way BELOW the "normal" range. He said this can't be because no one has ever had this much improvement in their hearing in all the years he has been in this business. He said that something isn't right, no one has this dramatic improvement in hearing and especially considering your age.

Then I told him that I felt sure I had the explanation for the improvement - it's Vivix. Then I briefly told him what this product is and the testimonials Shaklee has received of vastly improved health because of this product. That it is so unique Shaklee has applied for patents. I asked him if he'd like for me to drop off information and science about this product. He said "yes".

I've gotta comment on this testimonial. It makes perfect sense to me too knowing that Vivix actually goes into the DNA of the cell and protects and repairs it. There is a reason it's called an anti-aging tonic... Who knows what it could do you for your body.

Resveratrol May Have Anti-Inflammatory Effect

According to research published in Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism resveratrol, a compound found in the skin of red grapes, appears also to suppress inflammation in humans, a finding that may have implications for both inflammatory and degenerative diseases.

Here are some important diseases that have been linked to inflammation:

Age-related macular degeneration, a condition in which the cells in the retina  degenerate, has been linked to inflammation. Research has pointed to abnormalities in the complement cascade that create a pro-inflammatory environment. If you have new distortion or central black spot, you should seek immediate medical attention as this may represent the "wet type" of macular degeneration, for which treatments are available.

Diabetes, a condition in which the body's own insulin is not effective or is present in lower  amounts, has been linked to inflammation of the tiny insulin producing cells in the pancreas. Diabetes is associated with a higher link of stroke, heart attack, kidney disease and blindness.

Ischemic heart disease, which can cause heart attack, has been linked to inflammation of the inner lining of the coronary arteries. Inflammation associated with plaque can cause sudden cardiac death.

To perform their study, researchers from Kaleida Health's Diabetes-Endocrinology Center of Western New York, gave 10 subjects nutritional supplements  containing 40 milligrams of resveratrol. Another then took an identical pill containing no active ingredient. Participants took the pill once a day for six weeks. Fasting blood samples were collected at the start of the trial as well as weeks one, three and six.

The results showed that resveratrol suppressed the generation of free radicals. These are unstable molecules which can cause oxidative stress and release proinflammatory factors into the blood stream. Ultimately these molecules are known to damage to the blood vessels and also promote angiogenesis or the formation of new blood vessels.

Todays research shows that resveratrol can have an effect on inflammation in the body. More research is needed to better understand if this compound can lower the prevalence and incidence of diseases linked to inflammation and aging.

Resveratrol Anti-Aging Tonic may help keep Alzheimer’s at bay.

An organic compound found in red wine — resveratrol — has the ability to neutralize the toxic effects of proteins linked to Alzheimer’s disease, according to research led by Rensselaer Professor Peter M. Tessier. The findings, published in the May 28 edition of the Journal of Biological Chemistry, are a step toward understanding the large-scale death of brain cells seen in certain neurodegenerative diseases.

Kosher Vivix vs Vivix the Difference

I've got this question about Shaklee's Resveratrol Anti-Aging Tonic more than once, so here is your answer straight from Shaklee's Field Communication Staff.

The primary polyphenol source in the Kosher Polyphenol blend is pomegranate, rather than muscadine grape as contained in Vivix. Both product formulations contain 100 mg of 98% pure resveratrol, as well as a significant level of additional non-resveratrol polyphenols from the Rejuvetrol or Kosher Polyphenol blends. In laboratory studies, the ingredients in both Vivix and Kosher Vivix have been shown to impact key mechanisms of cellular aging.

Due to processing issues, we have not been able to create a kosher Vivix formulation that contains the muscadine grape, a nonkosher ingredient. In accordance with kosher law, a rabbi would need to be present during all of the various stages of production, including the pressing of the grapes at harvest. This timescale, along with the complexity of the specific production processes needed, precludes offering a kosher product that includes the muscadine grape.

I've also gotten asked about the sugar content in Vivix (Shaklee's Resveratrol Anti-Aging Tonic)

Here again is your answer from Shaklee Field Communications:

Vivix contains 2.5 grams of carbohydrate sugars from sorbitol in the Vivix one teaspoon serving
size.

For comparison, an ordinary glass of milk provides about 12 grams of carbohydrate sugars, a glass of orange juice about 22 grams, and an ordinary banana contains about 26 grams of carbohydrate sugars-more than 10 times the amount in a serving of Vivix. While diabetics need to
consult with their doctor about diet, sorbitol is slowly metabolized and would not be expected to significantly affect blood sugar levels. It can be used as an alternative to sugar by diabetics on the advice of their health care provider.

More than Anti-Aging... Life Changing..

I just had to share this with you... When I read note's like this I get goosebumps. To be able to offer folks products that change lives is one of the most rewarding benefits of my lifestyle choices these days.

Dear Cindy,
I wanted to give you my story for anyone suffering from Alopecia or other
forms of hair loss. Since the end of 2007 I began to lose my hair. It
started with small patches at first then, they just slowly grew to almost
palm size bald spots.

At first it started at the side of my head them within
a year the hair loss was on the top of my head too. I can't tell you how
devastating it is for a women.

I was going through a series of trials in my life, divorce after 15 years,
loss of two family members, job changes etc... As for any woman there is
no way to hide so much baldness without a wig or hats, so that's exactly
what I had resorted to. I can't tell you the hundreds and hundreds of
dollars I spent on wigs and all kinds of shampoos to help my hair grow back, but
nothing worked. It seemed to be getting worse!

Well one day I realized how much Shaklee's Vivix and Nutriferon had helped
my father live 11 months instead of 1 or 2 months like the Dr. had told
us. So I decided that I would increase my Vivix to 3 X's a day, my
Nurtriferon and B complex to 6 per day! Of course this is in addition to the RX
prescription and lots of prayers. Within a month I began to see a tremendous
change. My hair growth was unbelievable.

In Dec. of 09 I was visiting family and I walked in to their home without a wig.
First time in over 2 years. Their expression's were priceless!

The first words out of my Mother and sisters mouth was "Is that your real
hair or a different wig?" Since them my hair is almost back to normal, long
full healthy head of hair.

My up line is the only one who saw how devastated I was and
how it affected me. She is the only one I would allow to see and even
photograph my head.

She encouraged me to share my story. At the Shaklee
Excite meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico, April 10, 2010, was only the 2nd time I
had shared this with all the Shaklee family and friends. Since I have received so many emails and calls I felt it necessary to
share with everyone.

For anyone who is going through anything like this with any kind of hair
loss, THERE IS HOPE! Every single dollar I spent on my supplements was
worth more than words can express!
With love and respect,
Annette

Anti-Aging: Just look at her she's 99 yrs old

Marysville's Margaret Kime still plugging along after 99 years.

By Kristi O'Harran
Herald Columnist
MARYSVILLE -- If Shaklee nutrition company wants to document its success, they should visit Margaret Kime.

She’s been taking their products for almost 50 years. Kime swears by Vivix, an anti-aging tonic.

She is 99 years old.

Her husband, Ed, 91, lives down her hallway at Madeline Villa in Marysville. Kime said she has outlived two sons and has no one else to care for her.

It was great to see her again. I wrote about her in 2003.

“Not aging, just marinating” was the headline.

She’s marinated quite well.

Kime still wears her thin hair short, saying it’s easier to take care of. Her health is good, though her eyes are going bad. She wants for nothing and loves Madeline Villa.

“The housework is done,” Kime said. “This is living.”

Her room is sparse, with only a few bits of memorabilia. She won countless blue ribbons at the Evergreen State Fair for machine knitting — after she was 80 years old.

The bulk of the ribbons were donated to Special Olympics.

“Somebody is going to enjoy those ribbons,” she said.

Her hometown is Sultan, where her father worked for the railroad. She said she is the last of the 17 graduates from Sultan High School’s class of 1928.

Ten years ago, the Kimes moved to senior housing in Everett.

She wasn’t going to tip back in a recliner, she said, although she did give up teaching and custom knitting. She made more than 1,200 sweaters by machine through the years.

Kime got busy meeting apartment dwellers from New York, Florida and Tennessee. The job she fashioned for herself was that of a social director.

She said if you wanted to make a friend, just walk the hallways.

At the nursing home, Mark Hinricksen got to know Kime when his mother, Jane Hinricksen, was Kime’s roommate.

“Margaret was a great influence on her,” Mark Hinricksen said.

His mother recovered from a fall and has since left the nursing home.

Mark Hinricksen said he enjoyed Kime’s long memory, including stories from World War I. When Kime was a youngster and her father worked the railroad telegraph, he was the first person in town to know the war had ended.

Hinricksen said Kime made him laugh for hours with her stories.

“She’s sharp as a tack,” he said.

Kime’s humor is delightful.

“At age 25, you have a lot of boyfriends and wonder who will I take?” she said. “At age 58, you wonder what can I get?”

Seven years ago, Kime talked about the benefits of staying active. Not so active these days, she isn’t interested in going on group outings or shopping.

“Shopping isn’t my thing,” she said. “I haven‘t been to the Everett Mall in 30 years.”

She would travel for one thing — to see an exhibit of glass by Dale Chihuly.

All in all, life is good for this 99-year-old. She savors memories, such as the years she ran a booth at the old three-day Monroe Fair.

She cooked and sold rabbit.

Yes, folks stood in line for rabbit, she said.

Kime said she is content with how much world she saw in her day. She even met her guru, company founder Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee, twice.

Kristi O’Harran: 425-339-3451, oharranheraldnet.com.

When I saw this article pop up on my radar I knew I had to share it. Just look at Margaret's skin. At 99 years old her skin is beautiful. Looks like Shaklee Products has been a perfect match for Kime.

Vivix Resveratrol - Seizures for 5 yrs. Finally Gone

Another Vivix testimony for you to consider. Let me ask you, what nagging issue do you have that Vivix might help subside? None of us know that answer until we take the leap and try the product. I will continue to post testimonies on this site for your from the field education of what is possible with Vivix Anti-Aging Tonic.

I was in a car accident five years ago when a school bus hit me and I suffered a severe whiplash. I thought I would be OK after recovering from the injury, but months later I started to develop grand mall seizures and they developed into 5 or 6 seizures a day and sometimes up to 10 or 12 a day. Needless to say this was very debillating and i was completely homebound, as my family was afraid to have me go out or to be alone as I never knew when they would occur.

I was told that sometimes seizures can occur months later after a severe whiplash injury, and the doctors tried every procedure and drug that was recommended for seizures, but nothing worked. After going thru about $50,000 on everything they knew of over the last five years, we didn't know where to turn.

Last spring, my son's girlfriend Amy told me about Shaklee supplements and Vivix, and how it was helping a lot of health problems, & she referred me to a Shaklee Distributor and after talking to her I decided to try them, as I felt I had nothing to lose.

I started on Vivix twice a day and a strip of Vitalizer a day along with the following supplements of 2 B-Complex, 2 Lecithin, 2 Osteomatrix Calcium, & 2 Zinc three times a day, and within a month they were almost gone. I would only get one when I was under a lot of stress, so I added the Stress Relief Complex and the Cinch Shake Mix, which I love.

I was still having mini seizures where I would stare for about a minute. but my husband and I felt we could live with those because I could at least leave the house.

When I went to my doctor's appointment, I told him what I had been doing and he was very happy for me and told me to keep taking the Shaklee supplements and he gradually has taken me off almost all my over seven medications.

I was feeling so good that I was up on a ladder painting and I fell and hurt my wrist and back so I started taking Vivix a third time a day to help my back and lo and behold, my mini seizures went completely away. It has now been over four months, and no seizures of either kind and my doctor told me if I continued to not have any seizures for a year, he would let me drive again. ~Nicole

Top 10 List for Anti-Aging

What if you could still do all of the activities that you currently do well into your 90s? Do these ten things and your odds of reaping a long, healthy life increases dramatically. I add Shaklee's resveratrol anti-aging tonic to my body everyday to help protect and repair the DNA of my cells.

1. Diet and Nutrition. This is your biggest weapon in the fight against aging. Eating a healthy diet without skipping meals or starving yourself and supplementing with a balanced mix of nutrients, vitamins and minerals can stop the aging process in its tracks. What is a healthy diet consist of? Eating whole foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fish. Yes, this means ditching boxed, packaged, and convenience foods.

2. Breathe. Monitoring and focusing on the breath is a healing mechanism that has been used for centuries. Take a deep breath in, hold and then slowly release.

3. Drink plenty of water. Water has been called the elixir of life. Our body is comprised of about 60-70% water which is constantly being depleted through excretion so it makes sense to replenish it.

4. Get moving. Remember Newton’s Law of Motion – a body in motion stays in motion. An active lifestyle will extend your life and make it more enjoyable. I spend many afternoons barefoot in the garden. It's a lifestyle I've chosen for myself. If you would like to choose how you spend your day's we need to talk. Bottomline take a walk, go for a bike ride or work out at the gym. Do household chores. Go dancing. Just keep moving.

5. Work those muscles. Strength training creates strong muscles, which serve to support our joints and decrease the likelihood of injury. Bone density increases dramatically, reducing our risk of osteoporosis. Strength training enhances quality of life, as it enables us to better perform daily activities that require lifting, pushing or pulling. Women who are trying to reduce body fat, add a little strength training to the mix and you will do so more easily. When done sufficiently and consistently, strength training increases muscle fiber size. Once muscle fibers enlarge, they consume more energy – which boosts our metabolism which decreases body fat. I add take a Cinch Shake daily with Leucine this helps build muscle too.

6. Touch and be touched. Research shows touch deprivation in children not only causes them not thrive but also has an adverse effect on body image. Adults suffer from the same effect. Don’t have a significant other? Schedule a massage and get one at least once a month. Massage therapists are usually very nurturing by nature.

7. Live in the moment. Experts claim that focusing on the here and now, and taking life one day at a time, helps you stay calm, grounded and present. This allows you to have a stress-free life. Studies have shown that too much stress can actually age a person.

8. Take a mental retreat. Spending just a few moments imagining a peaceful scene floods your body with feel-good chemicals that reduce stress, boost immunity, and promote healing. Here is one of my favorite short video's I use for my mental retreat.

9. Get involved and help others. Longevity experts agree that maintaining social networks is critical as we age. The more activities, groups, and classes you’re involved with, the better (and longer) your life! Also, helping others by volunteering for causes that are important to you have been shown to promote feeling of gratitude and report a higher level of well-being.

10. Think positive, think young. Our thoughts create our lives. You are what you think about most of the time.

Believe you will never get old, follow the tips above, and stay young and healthy longer. If you do these steps, life will also become a whole lot more fun.

New Research Release on Shaklee's Resveratrol Anti-Aging Product

There is so much research coming out of the woodwork on Shaklee's anti-aging resveratrol called Vivix.

SUNY Buffalo study of the impact of Vivix on Nrf2, in the paraphrased words of Dr. Carsten Smidt, "The mother of all anti-aging genetic regulators". The placebo controlled study involved health adults eating, according to Dr. Smidt, "an insulting 910 calorie typical junk food breakfast laden with fat, carbohydratel, and a little bit of protein" and watching the impact on Nrf2 activity.

With the "food" alone, Nrf2 activity was totally flat to declining over five hours. The same meal eaten with a serving of Vivix created a massive spike of Nrf2 activity after several hours, with a significantly elevated, protective level maintained after five hours.

This study apparently supports a new paradigm that anti-aging genetic regulators can be stimulated to have a profound effect immediately, rather than over time, as previously thought.

Shaklee resveratrol is 98% pure. science says 100 mg best doseage. This is what makes Shaklee's resveratrol anti-aging product called Vivix stand above the rest!

Resveratrol Anti-Aging on CBS News

What did researchers tell CBS news about resveretrol found in red wine? How it could extend lifespan? The beans were spilled in this report and how this has made resveratrol the most famous anti aging supplement literally overnight.

Morley Safer of the CBS learns about resveratrol - a compound found in red wine - and how it one day could help to extend the human life by a decade or so in an interview with Dr Christoph Westphal, co-founder of Sirtris, of Cambridge, Mass. Dr. Christoph Westphal says, "If the promise holds true, I think this has the chance to change healthcare".

The anti aging Sirtuin gene

Westphal first became involved in the research on Resveratrol when he met fellow Sirtris co-founder David Sinclair, who was at the time a bio-chemist at Harvard and studying the genetic compounds of ageing. He had shown that the life span in yeast could be extended. In order to translate the experiments to include humans, Sinclair had focused on a gene common in almost all forms of life - the sirtuin gene.

Sinclair believed that the normally inactive gene - once activated - could trigger a survival mechanism which extends life. He was also convinced that something in nature had to activate the gene, and tested literally thousands of compounds. One which showed a promise was the compound Resveratrol, which, when he googled it, Sinclair discovered was found mainly in red wine, and in particular in the skin of the red grape. The information also described it as being something which played a role in protecting the plant from fungal attack and bacterial invasion.

Already aware of the link between red wine and health benefits, Sinclair and Westphal were convinced of a scientific breakthrough and launched the research company Sirtris, Cambs, Mass. This company is now looking at the benefits of resveratrol for diabetes and cancer in human trials.

Benefits of resveratrol

For some time it had been known that the sirtuin gene which switches on the 'survival mechanism' could be activated by restricted calorie intake diet. A National Institute of Health study at the University of Wisconsin into the effects of calorie restriction in monkeys had already shown that monkeys fed on a restricted calorie diet were far more youthful, healthier and in better condition than their counterparts fed on a regular diet.

When they realized the link between the genetic switching, restricted calorie diets and resveratrol, Sinclair and Westphal believed that they could have found a way to provide to humans, in pill form, a method of improving health and prolonging life.

Tests on mice and monkeys fed resveratrol along with their normal diet showed a life extension of nearly 25%, and further tests involving mice fed on a high-fat diet showed reduced incidences of heart disease, arthritis and diabetes. The fact that the test animals were also slimmer led the scientists to believe that resveratrol mimics the effect of a calorie restricted diet or exercise.

The Skinny on Resveratrol Anti-Aging Tonic

Shaklee Vivix is the most powerful, most potent, and the most pure natural resveratrol anti-aging supplement on the market today. In laboratory studies, the ingredients in Vivix have been shown to positively impact the four key mechanisms of cellular aging. With so many resveratrol supplements on the market, why should you choose Vivix over all others?

Why is Vivix better than all other resveratrol supplements or products on the market?
Dr. Stephen Chaney, a professor of biochemistry and nutrition at University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill has his name on over 80 published studies in scientific and medical peer-reviewed journals and he teaches nutrition to medical students.

Here's what Dr. Chaney has to say:

"...The answer to that question is really three-fold.
In the first place, the resveratrol in Shaklee's Vivix a higher potency,
higher purity preparation than many of the other resveratrol supplements
products on the market

Harvard University's studies were a shock to many scientists in the resveratol community. They showed convincingly that the amounts of resveratol one needs for a substantial beneficial effect were of magnitudes greater than anyone expected. Clearly, one or two glasses of red wine per day won't do the trick. Similarly, many of the older resveratrol supplements on the market just aren't potent enough to be of any significant benefit.

For those resveratrol supplements that are potent enough, many aren't pure enough. There is a naturally occurring contaminant in impure resveratrol preparations that has a laxative effect. Unless the resveratrol preparation is 98% pure or better, many people will find that the side effects outweigh beneficial effects.

But the most important reason is that resveratrolcannot do it all. It is just one of many naturally occurring polyphenols, which is why Shaklee added a polyphenol blend from muscadine grapes to their purified resveratrol. For example, Shaklee's
polyphenol blend is high in ellagic acid, which is not found in
significant amounts in red wine or most resveratrol preparations.

Ellagic acid inhibits an enzyme that is involved in the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGE proteins), one of the central four mechanisms of cellular aging. Resveratrol has no effect on this enzyme, but does block the other three key mechanisms of cellular aging. Similarly, animal studies suggest that ellagic acid shines in preventing gastrointestinal cancers, while resveratrol and
other components of the polyphenol blend that Shaklee uses prevent a variety of other tumors.

The bottom line is that by adding a polyphenol blend containing ellagic acid and other protective polyphenols from the muscadine grape to their ultra-pure, ultra-potent resveratrol, Shaklee has developed a product that is clearly superior to either resveratrol or a muscadine polyphenol blend alone.

This is not a "one plus one" addition, but a synergistic combination of protective polyphenols that is far more protective than any one of them alone..."

How did Shaklee create Vivix?
Shaklee created and isolated a unique, patent pending, polyphenol blend that fights cellular aging. They were able to secure the entire output from the largest and best growers in the world. Their research found an amazing super grape, Vitis rotundifolia, which is the only grape found in nature with an extra chromosome. This alone, scientists believe, greatly enhances its polyphenol profile and health benefits. Shaklee scientists created an extraction process that resulted in a super grape extract that's high in ellagic acid, which is resposible for many cellular anti-aging actions of the super grape in the Vivix resveratrol supplement formulation.

Vivix is the combination of the most powerful super grape found in nature and the ultra-pure, natural resveratrol. This anti-aging dietary supplement is all natural with no artificial colors, flavors, sweetners or preservatives.

What is a muscadine grape and why is it so special?
The muscadine grape (Vitis rotundifolia) is a super grape and the only grape with an extra chromosome. It is native to the southeastern United States. The muscadine grapes range from bronze to dark purple to black in color when ripe. They contain high concentrations of resveratrol - a polyphenol with reported beneficial health effects. Red wine produced from these grapes may contain more than 40 mg/L of resveratol. They are high in other nutrients as well.

How much resveratrol does Vivix provide?
Vivix delivers 100 mg of resveratrol per serving (One teaspoon). The resveratrol extract is 98% natural.Vivix does not contain resveratol alone, but in combination with a patent pending polyphenol blend from the ONLY grape
with an extra chromosome.

When I buy my supply of Vivix, how should I take it?

Health Benefits of Wine Discovery Dates back to Biblical Times

Did you know making wine from grapes is one of the most ancient arts and the beverage of choice in the Bible? According to Genesis, one of the first things Noah did after the Flood was plant a vineyard to he could make wine.

Researchers have now rediscovered what the physicians of the Bible knew centuries ago. In moderation, wine has a profound impact on our health and healing. Just a single glass of wine a day may be enough to raise the good cholesterol by 7% and help the body put up a barrier to a variety of cancers.

One hundred years ago, doctors in France noticed that during one cholera outbreak, people who drank wine straight seemed less likely to be stricken than neighbors who added water to their wine. As a test, cholera and typhoid germs were added to containers of water, pure red or white wine and a half-and-half mixture of water and wine. Amazingly, while the germs in the plain water were unaffected, those cholera germs in both the wine and the diluted mixture were wiped out within 15 minutes. The typhoid germs in the wine lasted 24 hours before dying off.

Since then, similar tests have achieved the same results. But to everyone’s surprise, it turns out that the fermentation process releases polyphenols – chemical compounds that attack bacteria in much the same way that penicillin does. Researchers say that red win diluted in a 1-4 ratio with water has the same potency after 15 minutes as 5 units of penicillin per milliliter.

Wine also appears to help stop heart disease and cancer. A study at the University of Ottawa in Canada concluded there is a clear link between wine consumption and lower rates of heart disease. Countries where more than 90% of alcohol is consumed in the form of wine have the lowest rate of heart disease deaths.

A British study of 100 men and women discovered that a single glass of wine or sherry everyday increased the HDL or good cholesterol. When the group abstained from drinking wine, the HDL level decreased.

Red wine also seems to strengthen the body’s defenses against cancer, just as it does against heart disease.

Researcher Dr. Hans Stich says “Wine, notably red wine, has high concentrations of gallic acid, one of the tannic acids that give the bouquet to the wine. Gallic acid is also anticarcinogenic.”

White wine may carry some of the same therapeutic benefits, but research so far seems to indicate that red wine is the most effective cancer-blocker.

No wonder we are getting such great results from our Resveratrol Anti-Aging Product called Vivix!!

Forget Botox: 25 Healthy Celebrity Anti-Aging Secrets

Guest writer Kelly Sonora from ultrasoundtechnicianschools.org sent this to me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

While some celebrities depend on plastic surgery and botox to look young well beyond their actual youth, other stars embrace aging and rely on more natural remedies and healthy treatments to keep their skin, bodies and attitude young. Check out these fail-proof ways to stay youthful without doing anything drastic.

Lifestyle
These lifestyle tips will help keep you stay active, engaged and healthy as long as you can.

  1. Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight drains energy, so stay in good health and at a sensible weight for your shape in order to keep up with the younger crowd.

  2. Exercise: Stars have to stay in top shape for their movie roles and magazine covers. Exercise boosts energy, keeps your muscles and bones strong, and helps you maintain a youthful figure. The Washington Post even reports that "physically active people have cells that look younger on a molecular level than those of couch potatoes."

  3. Eat for your bikini body: Popular celebrity diets center around lean proteins, eating several small meals a day, and watching calories. While drastic calorie restriction diets haven’t been proven to lengthen life in humans, eating healthy foods that are low in fat and cholesterol is.

  4. Wear sunscreen: Now that fake tans are gaining popularity, celebrities don’t have to lie out in the sun to get their glowing complexion. Wearing sunscreen is a must when you want to prevent wrinkles and damaging sunburns, like Amy Adams does.

  5. Drink lots of water: Keeping your body and skin hydrated contributes to a glowing, clear and young-looking complexion. It’s also a favorite beauty and anti-aging treatment of celebrities like Eva Mendes.

  6. Challenge yourself: In order to stay in the spotlight, celebrities have to reinvent themselves and challenge themselves in creative ways. By challenging yourself, you can remain more connected to society and flex your brain power at the same time, both key ingredients to slowing down the aging process.

  7. Travel: Another way to keep your brain active and engaged is to travel. Celebrities have the budget to travel to expensive resorts and exotic locations, but even taking a day trip to a nearby town will do the trick.

  8. Find time to relax: Stress contributes to wrinkles and poor health, so find time to relax by taking time off or saving for early retirement.

  9. Surround yourself with younger people: Halle Berry credits her youthful-looking skin and outlook on life to her much younger boyfriend. Gabriel Aubrey is 10 years her junior, and other stars like Demi Moore have also benefited from younger mates who keep them feeling and looking like a teenager.

  10. Be honest with yourself: Stars like Cindy Crawford are embracing their aging bodies, even if that means admitting they have cellulite. Accepting your age and the little imperfections that go along with it will help you feel more liberated and carefree.

  11. Stay social: Celebrities have packed social lives, which helps keep brain function sharp and makes you feel like you still live an exciting, fulfilling life.

  12. Pursue religion: If your childhood religion isn’t fulfilling, explore other religions or spiritual paths, like Buddhism or even yoga. Christy Turlington is a strong proponent of the yogi lifestyle, and at 40 years old, she maintains a successful modeling career and is still considered one of the most beautiful women in the world.

  13. Make an effort: If you don’t even make an effort to look your best, you’ll look way older than you really are. While you don’t need to primp as much as a celebrity on the red carpet, pay attention to the basic grooming and health habits that contribute to looking and feeling young.

Specific Treatments and Prevention

Here you can learn about celebrity treatments like acai berry wrinkle cream, microdermabrasion, eye masks and good dental hygiene to stay young.

  1. Sleep on your back: Heather Locklear suggests sleeping on your back, rather than your stomach, to avoid getting wrinkles. Celebrity Beauty Buzz reports that sleeping on your stomach with your face in your pillow contributes to wrinkles over time.

  2. Color your hair: Don’t fry your hair, but when it starts to turn gray or lose its natural sheen, get some highlights to keep your look vibrant.

  3. Drink red wine: Drink red wine with your dinner to relax and unwind, and also to help slow the aging process. Resveratrol is the ingredient in red wine that is attributed to anti-aging power and helps body tissue remain healthy and strong.

  4. Microdermabrasion: This skin cleansing treatment is popular with celebrities like Cindy Crawford. If you have clogged pores, sun damaged skin, age spots, very oily skin or wrinkles, microdermabrasion can help smooth out and clarify your complexion.

  5. Sugar Acai Age Delay Body Cream: Stars like Charlize Theron are huge fans of this Amazon body cream that makes skin firmer. Oprah is also a fan of the benefits of the acai berry, which contains 10 times more antioxidants than red grapes, plus dietary fiber, monounsaturated fats and essential amino acids.

  6. Start anti-aging treatments early: Even young stars are photographed at the spa and purchasing anti-wrinkle creams. The trick to preventing physical aging signs is by starting early. Use wrinkle creams in your 20s, and always use sunscreen.

  7. Wash your face before you go to bed: Letting make-up, especially eye make-up, settle into your skin overnight builds up oil, the potential for acne, and even the gunk that contributes to wrinkles and inflammation. Wash your face like Ashanti before going to bed.

  8. Pay attention to your teeth: Bright, white teeth convey the message that you haven’t had enough time to stain them with coffee or red wine. Use white strips, floss, get teeth cleanings, and consider getting a professional whitening job to help your teeth look whiter.

  9. Buy new beauty products: Throw out old beauty products if they’re over one-year old, or less for mascara. These products may breed micro-organisms that can cause infections, so treat yourself to new make-up every so often.

  10. Use an eye mask: Celebrity Beauty Buzz reports that thirty-nine year-old volleyball player Gabrielle Reece uses the Guinot Masque Yeux Instant Eye-Mask "to moisturize her tired eyes." Even if you don’t indulge in this pricey product, whip up your own eye mask or treatment to get the same effect.

  11. Wear stockings and French lingerie: Nigella Lawson tells Esquire that she depends on stockings and French schoolgirl socks to make her feel sexy and young.

  12. Add shimmer to your make-up routine: Splendicity reveals that adding a small amount of bronzer and shimmer eyeshadow in the right places can help your complexion look more vibrant and supple. Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez and Debra Messing all use shimmer to add more definition to their faces.
